Jewelry Care

• All jewelry should be handled with care.
• Even though it consists of metal and stones, damage can occur; metals can be scratched and
gemstones can be cracked or chipped.
• Store your jewelry separately to avoid scratching other jewelry.
• For best results store your jewelry flat or loosely rolled in your jewelry box or other container.
• Put on your jewelry after washing and applying any makeup or hair spray as the chemicals in
these products can reduce sparkle.
• Remove all jewelry before going to bed to avoid kinking or breakage.
• While jewelry sparkles beautifully in the sunlight, long term exposure to the sun can cause colored gemstones to fade
• Store in a dark place.

Caring for Pearls
• Because pearls are soft, store them in a jewelry punch.
• To protect pearls from skin's acidity, wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing.
• Take pearls off when applying cosmetics, hair spray or perfumes.
• Remember that pearls are easily damaged by chemicals like perfume, vinegar and lemon juice.
• Heat and dry air can damage pearls.
• Do not wear your peals when the string is wet.
• Do not handle pearls until dry because the string will stretch when wet.
• Pearls naturally contain some water and can become brittle or crack if allowed to desiccate.
• Do not store pearls in plastic; it will prevent them from breathing.

Cleaning Pearls
• Use only jewelry cleaners labeled as safe for pearls.
• Do not use ultrasonic cleaners.
• Do not clean pearls with steam.
• Keep pearls away for dishwashing detergents, bleaches, scouring powders, baking soda and ammonia based cleaner.
• Never use a toothbrush or abrasive material to clean pearls.
• If pearls have not been kept clean and are very dirty take them to a jeweler where they can be cleaned
with a special pearl cleaner.
